Video: What Happens When Two Italian Icons Meet? The Bvlgari Aluminium Ducati Special Edition Chronograph
At the 2020 edition of Geneva Watches Days, Bulgari reintroduced a pure style icon from 1998: the Bvlgari Aluminium.
Featuring a distinctive and ergonomic rubber strap, a 40mm aluminum case, and the line’s signature “BVLGARI BVLGARI” engraved black rubber bezel, the reissued Bvlgari Aluminium from 2020 was (and still is) pure lightness on the wrist and a must have for summer.
Now in 2022, with Bulgari’s release of the Bvlgari Aluminum Ducati Special Edition chronograph a few weeks ago, watch enthusiasts have the opportunity to acquire a limited-edition watch born from a natural partnership.
And as unlikely as it may seem, the story of the Bulgari Bvlgari Aluminium Ducati Special Edition chronograph begins with a WhatsApp message exchanged between two friends, Bulgari’s Creative Director Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani and Ducati’s Design Director Andrea Ferraresi.
Luckily, Fabrizio and Andrea recently sat down with Watchonista to tell us more about the natural genesis and coherence of the Bulgari x Ducati partnership and let us take the Bvlgari Aluminum Ducati Special Edition chronograph on a Ducati for a test drive.
Riding The Bulgari Aluminum Chronograph Ducati Special Edition
If you’ve already watched the above video, then you will have no doubt already discovered the attention put into the Bulgari Bvlgari Aluminum Ducati Special Edition.
The mix of both brands’ universes is masterful and has resulted in an extremely enticing collaboration. But what has made this distinctive 1,000-piece limited edition so cohesive is the use of a material Bulgari and Ducati share: Aluminum.
The aluminum used to create the 40mm watch case echoes material’s use in the Ducati Superquadro motorcycle engine. Meanwhile, if you listen closely enough, the chronograph’s rubber strap sounds like the wheel of a Ducati Multistrada V4 flying atop tarmac.
Additionally, the Bvlgari Aluminum Ducati Special Edition’s dial is directly inspired by the distinctive Ducati Red body of the Panigale. Yet, despite the vivid red reference to Ducati’s signature style, the reference’s status as a collaborative piece remains discreet, with Ducati’s logo only included on the watch’s caseback.
Can’t get enough Bulgari Bvlgari Aluminium in your life? Then, why not pick a pair of these matching Bvlgari Bvlgari Man Sunglasses? Along with the Bvlgari Aluminium Ducati Special Edition, you’ll be ready to go on your summer hols with a distinctively sport and stylish look.
